From the hand of the experts and advocates Dr. Adriana Romero Olivares and Bibiana Pulido\, we will be addressing the pr ogress that North-America has done regarding inclusiveness in academia in the last year\, with special attention to the measures taken and program s engaged by North-American universities. We are very excited to have you join this discussion with our great panelists and co-hosts\, Dr. Elsa Ab s\, Dr. Sergio Crespo-Garcia and Dr. Pritam Bose. &\;nbsp\;Presenters: - Bibiana Pulido (she/her)Co-founder and Executive Director RIQEDI- Insti tut EDI2Bibiana has always believed in the importance of addressing the i njustices that most marginalized people in society may experience and in ensuring inclusive environments for all. With this in mind\, she co-found ed the Réseau interuniversitaire québécois pour l'\;équité\, div ersité et inclusion (RIQEDI)\, a nonprofit organization that brings toge ther Quebec universities as well as several stakeholders in the universit y community who have the mandate or desire to promote and integrate the v alues of equity\, diversity and inclusion within their institutions. She is the Executive Director of this organization. Bibiana is also the Direc tor of Partnerships\, Learning and Training Development at the Institut à ‰quité Diversité Inclusion Intersectionnalité (EDI2). For the past yea r\, she has contributed to the development of the Master'\;s degree i n Equity\, Diversity and Inclusion at Université Laval and is also respo nsible for coordinating the program\, while having the opportunity to tea ch. With a multidisciplinary background in political science\, Latin Amer ican studies\, management\, and industrial relations (with a specializati on in human resources)\, she has contributed as a researcher and manager to numerous research projects and has developed expertise in the fields o f innovative\, creative and academic industries\, well-being at work\, sk ills development\, knowledge management\, equity\, diversity and inclusio n management\, discrimination in organizations and unconscious bias. Bibi ana Pulido works as a consultant\, through her company CIDI\, in various projects related to her expertise in different sectors. In a constant des ire to learn and to be involved in scientific research\, she is also a Ph D candidate in industrial relations (human resources) and works on knowle dge development in the video game clusters in Quebec and Sweden. She is v ery dedicated to teaching and mentoring students\, university research an d community involvement.&\;nbsp\;- Dr. Adriana Romero Olivares (she/he r)Assistant Professor at New Mexico state UniversityAdriana is a soil mic robiologist who works at the intersection of ecosystem ecology and evolut ion with an emphasis on fungi. She is interested in understanding how fun gi respond and adapt to environmental stress. And her overall research go al is to better understand and plan for ecosystem-scale effects of global climate change. Adriana is originally from Mexico and she received my Ph D from the University of California Irvine where she investigated the eff ects of global warming on the soil fungal communities of boreal forests i n Alaska. She did a postdoc at the University of New Hampshire where she was a Diversity &\;amp\; Innovation Scholar studying fungal traits and emission of volatile organic compounds in soils experiencing long-term s imulated warming and nitrogen pollution at Harvard Forest. She is now an assistant professor at New Mexico State University in the Department of B iology where she is exploring fungi in dryland ecosystems\, their traits\ , and how they respond and adapt to global climate change. She is passion ate about feminism\, intersectionality\, social justice\, and equity in g eneral\, and more specifically in STEM.
