Science communication workshop and Barcelona Science Slam
Would you like to learn how to communicate science to general public in an engaging and fun way ?
On this interactive workshop, you will learn how to communicate your complex research projects to the general public, and practice how to bring your science to life using simply, but strong storytelling techniques. The ability to command core science communication tools will leave your audience spellbound; be it when you are giving a talk, or simply explaining your research to your friends or family members. In addition, you will also learn how to deal with a stage fright when presenting to a bigger crowd of people.
This very practical hands-on training in a form of group activities, class discussions, and practical assignments, culminates with a public Barcelona Science Slam on the 27th October 2017, where the volunteers from the workshop group will present their science stories to the general public.
Duration of the course: Two full days (26 and 27 October 2017)
Who is the course for? The course is intended for PhD students
The number of participants is limited to 25.
Registration deadline: 14th October 2017

What is the Barcelona Science Slam?
It is a science communication contest where up to eight researchers explain their research projects in five-minute, engaging, clear, and fun talks. You can see some examples here.
The slam winner is chosen by the audience votes.
Barcelona Science Slam will take place on Friday 27th of October at 21:30 in Black Lab bar (Palau de Mar, Plaça Pau Vila, 1, 08039 Barcelona)
You can apply directly for the science slam (without attending the science communication workshop) by sending a one-minute video of your research to email@example.com by 14th October 2017. You will be notified by Wednesday 18th October 2017 if your slam has been selected for the final presentation in a Black Lab.
