The MCAA partnered with Wissenschaft im Dialog and the Centre for Genomic Regulation (Barcelona) to organise the Final European Science Slam 2018. The event took place on Saturday 7th July in Toulouse as a Science in the City event for the EuroScience Open Forum 2018. Enjoy the performances of the six slammer finalists: Valerie Bentivegna, Yoran Beldengrün, Martina Pesaresi, Gunter Auzinger, Ondřej Kovanda, and Carrie Ankerstein, and let yourself get inspired for your next research communication!

EuroScience Open Forum (ESOF) is the largest interdisciplinary science meeting in Europe, and it only happens once every two years. The ESOF 2018 will take place in Toulouse, France, from July 9-14.

The MCAA will be well-represented at ESOF 2018, with eight programme sessions coordinated by MCAA members co-organisation of a Science in the City event, collaboration with the European Commission in the MSCA Satellite event on July 7-8, and promotion of MCAA with an official presence and at the EuroScience booth.

European Science Slam

Free tickets for the 2018 final of the European Science slam

The Final European Science Slam 2018 will be on Saturday 7th July (20h00 to 22h30) in Toulouse (Le Taquin, 23 Rue des Amidonniers, 31000 Toulouse). At the event you can enjoy a drink while hearing young researchers compete to give the most interesting ten-minute talk. Julia Offe will moderate the event and the six slammer finalists are Valerie Bentivegna, and Yoran Beldengrün (both representing the MCAA), along with Martina Pesaresi, Gunter Auzinger, Ondřej Kovanda, and Carrie Ankerstein.

At the science slam there is no judging panel, because the audience scores the performances. You can be the judge! The speaker with the highest score will be the European Science Slam champion 2018.

The MCAA has managed to secure some free tickets for this event, so that MCAA can lend their support to our two finalists. Please reserve your ticket now at:

The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) France Chapter  organizes an ESOF Satellite Meeting on July, 9. The meeting is dedicated to the role of researchers in both academia and business, and in shaping the future of European science. A specific round table on alternative career paths for researchers will also be held.
