The European Commission is boosting urgently needed research into coronavirus with €10 million from its research and innovation programme, Horizon 2020.

European Social Innovation Competition

The European Social Innovation Competition (EUSIC) is a challenge prize run by the European Commission across all EU countries and Horizon 2020 associated countries. Organised in memory of Diogo Vasconcelos, the competition calls all Europeans to come up with solutions to the problems affecting our society.

The proposal for Horizon Europe – the next framework programme for research and innovation (2021 - 2027) was adopted by the European Commission on 7 June 2018.

The European Commission’s Scientific Advice Mechanism (SAM) Group of Chief Scientific Advisors has on18 November 2018, published a statement providing ‘a scientific perspective on the regulatory status of products derived from gene editing, and the implications for the GMO Directive’.
