The Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA) encourage transnational, intersectoral and interdisciplinary mobility, helping researchers take their careers to the next level. These opportunities and more will be discussed by researchers, European Union officials and policymakers at a high-level conference in Bucharest, Romania, next month.

Organised under the auspices of the Romanian Presidency of the Council of the European Union, this year’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions Presidency Conference will be held in Bucharest on 4-5 June.

A flagship event for the MSCA Programme, it will showcase the MSCA’s charge to increase the development of skills for innovation in all scientific disciplines, through worldwide and cross-sector mobility.

Participants will be invited to delve deep into how researcher mobility across borders, sectors and disciplines can support excellence.

The conference’s agenda focusses on the opportunities and challenges that currently top the minds of researchers. Topics of discussion during the two-day event include the role of MSCA in widening participation and sharing excellence, as well as the improvement of synergies between Horizon Europe and European Structural & Investment Funds (ESIF). Other topics include the creation of an open European science landscape to boost career and mobility opportunities and intra-sectoral mobility to foster collaborations.

Participants will also exchange views about the impact, current challenges and new trends of the MSCA. Speakers and participants will also have the opportunity to discuss ideas for the post-2020 programme and exchange experiences in different thematic workshops.

Awards ceremony

The conference will feature the finalists of the MSCA Awards and identify the most promising researchers in an Awards Ceremony. The last entries were received on 1 May, on the final day of the competition.

The winners will be invited to showcase their work to a large audience, take part in the conference and interact with international outstanding profile speakers.
