On

Dear All,

We are happy to cross-promote this forthcoming event in London for LGBTQ+ researchers. The organizers (Spanish Researchers in the UK) are still looking for contributors, so if you identify as LGBTQ+ and would like to share your research work, your experience being LGBTQ+ in STEM, and why you think visibility matters, please send a message to london@sruk.org.uk

Kind regards,

Stefan (MCAA UK Chapter) (*please see below for more....)

SRUK 1ST LGBTQ+ IN STEM DAY

 ·  LONDON

Register now!

Astronaut Sally Ride, neuroscientist Ben Barres and mathematician Alan Turing were LGBTQ+, which undoubtedly affected their lives and careers. Today, representation of LGBTQ+ researchers has improved but challenges remain.

In the run-up to July’s London Pride, SRUK is organising our First LGBTQ+ in STEM session to give visibility to queer researchers and reflect on why it matters. We are delighted to welcome Dr Alfredo Carpineti (Pride in STEM) and Dr Javier Armentia (Ciencia LGTBIQ), who will offer their views on the current LGBTQ+ representation in the British and Spanish research communities.

Call for talks! If you identify as LGBTQ+ and would like to share your research work, your experience being LGBTQ+ in STEM, and why you think visibility matters, please drop us a line at london@sruk.org.uk – we would love to hear all about it and make this a collaborative event. We have 10 minutes slots available!

We encourage everyone (whether they identify as LGBTQ+ or not, everyone is welcome!) to come and learn about the excellent work our LGBTQ+ colleagues are doing.
