The London Constituency of the Spanish Researchers in the United Kingdom (SRUK/CERU) is pleased to invite you and the rest of the MCAA community to the CineScience Premiere of “El Enigma Agustina”, which will take place in London on the 19th of October.
“El Enigma Agustina” is a film created by the Astrophysics Institute of Andalucia (IAA-CSIC) that explores new formats to communicate science to a non-expert audience. The film has recently received a Prismas Award 2019 for Best Singular Project. It follows the story of a PhD student that comes across a chest hidden in El Pardo Palace, in Madrid. Inside the chest, she finds a PhD thesis by an Agustina Ruiz Dupont, and letters from Marie Curie and Albert Einstein. In her quest for joining the dots and unveiling the identity of Agustina, she will travel through the Spanish Second Republic, the Golden Age of Physics in Europe, the first female researchers in Spain and the many artistic movements associated with these three historical moments.
The film screening will be followed by a discussion with the directors of the film, Emilio García and Manuel González.
Attendance is free of charge, but previous registration is requested. Please do so in the following link: https://www.eventbrite.co.uk/e/el-enigma-agustina-tickets-72746128629
This event has been kindly sponsored by the Science and Technology Spanish foundation (FECYT), University College London (UCL) and Instituto Cervantes London.
