The UK Chapter is an initiative of Marie Curie fellows and alumni from various UK institutions.

We believe that being part of the Marie Curie Alumni Association and of a geographical chapter enables MC fellows and alumni to operate actively on a local basis and facilitate stronger connections. Ultimately, this will help achieve the objectives of the MCA Association.

We indeed share the aims and objectives of the MCA Association and intend to embed them into all our activities.

Aims and objectives:

- To encourage local networking and to establish a mutually-beneficial relationship between MCAA and its alumni in the UK (or with UK connections);

- To initiate activities, events, seminars, and webinars that add value to the Alumni network and prospective Marie Curie applicants;

- To create a network of MC fellows and alumni connecting universities and research centres and encouraging communication and collaborations;

- To recruit, attract, support and facilitate the exchange of knowledge among MC fellows and alumni;

- To sponsor and support activities that will enhance the image of MCAA.

Check out our different communication channels and sign up for our newsletter. All the links here!

We encourage you to join our chapter if you are interested in (i) networking with other fellows and alumni in the UK, (ii) increasing awareness and visibility of the MCAA, and (iii) supporting new MCAA members to settle in the region.

Families and Mobility: Geographical and Cultural challenges
Researchers in academia/industry are more likely to delay family planning. Thus, professional development is often in conflict with the strong desire for personal plans, including family planning and parenthood. There has been a positive movement towards equity of opportunity around family planning. However, recent studies show that attention is still needed to tackle existing problems, such as childcare costs and struggle of keeping a career in research. We will build upon the themes of Issues and Action to find equity, mapping different geographical/cultural challenges for mobile researchers.

The event will cover some of the most critical problems and the possible strategies to address these issues through (i) building awareness and empowerment (ii) mapping different national approaches (iii) motivating changes in current employer policies
