NANO-IMMUNOTHERAPY: INTRACELLULAR TARGETING OF CANCER CELLS AND TAMs (2-INTRATARGET - EuroNanoMed III)

Project Summary:

Scientific research in the field of cancer immunology has led to the development of new potential cancer immunotherapies, such as monoclonal antibodies (mAb) or polynucleotides (RNA-based therapies), which have been designed to act inside cancer cells as well as inside immune cells. Despite their huge potential, these therapies suffer of a limited access to their cellular targets (cancer or immune cells) and tissue (primary tumor site and metastatic niches), often resulting in a poor efficacy/toxicity balance.

Quantum Technology opportunities

We are currently setting up a new research group at the University of Sussex in Brighton, UK. Our focus will be on experimental quantum mechanics, in particular, cold and ultra-cold atomic gases.

Part of our work will be related to quantum technologies and we will build new sensors to measure the magnetic field of the brain. We also have pioneered the use of 3D printing in creating atom traps, something we are very excited about developing in the future.
