Bert Seghers, a mathematician by training, coordinates the Flemish Commission for Research Integrity (VCWI) since 2014, the second-advice body for investigations of research misconduct in Dutch-speaking Belgium. In that capacity, he is a member of ENRIO, the European Network of Research Integrity Offices, of which he is President since May 2025. He coordinates the ERA Action 18 on Ethics and Integrity in Research from the 2025-2027 ERA Policy Agenda. In 2026, he leads the (voluntary) core team of the World Conference on Research Integrity 2026 Focus Track towards a Global Reporting Standard on AI Disclosure. In the last decade, he was also the secretary of the Young Academy of Belgium (Flanders), and he was involved in the establishment of the Belgian Reproducibility Network.
