Muki Haklay

Muki Haklay is a professor of geographic information science at UCL and affiliated research at the Muséum National d'Histoire Naturelle in Paris. He is a fellow of the Academy of Social Science (FAcSS). He is the co-director of the Extreme Citizen Science group and co-founder of the social enterprise Mapping for Change. He has researched and written extensively on participatory mapping and citizen science. His work explores public access, use, and creation of environmental information. Haklay's work is interdisciplinary by nature. His research was funded by the Engineering and Physical Science Research Council, Economic and Social Research Council, and Medical Research Council in the UK. He has participated in many European projects since the 7th Framework Programme (FP7), Horizon 2020 and Horizon Europe. He also received an advanced grant and a proof of concept grant from the European Research Council (ERC), where he also acted as a panel member in the Social Science and Humanities areas.
