Sandra Rebok

Sandra Rebok is a historian and social and cultural scientist, specialising in 18th- and 19th-century intellectual networks, exploration voyages, and the political contexts in which they occurred. She has worked for 16 years at the Spanish National Research Council, was a Marie Curie Fellow at the Huntington Library, and held academic appointments and fellowships at leading institutions in Europe and America. In addition, she served as a subject-matter expert at the German Institute for Foreign Cultural Relations (ifa) for the “Culture and Foreign Policy” programme and has carried out research on the history of Science Diplomacy. Currently, she is a Senior Fellow at the Centre for US-Mexican Studies at the School of Global Policy and Strategy, University of California, San Diego, a think-tank situated at the intersection between Science and Policy. She also serves as a Research Associate in the History Department at the University of San Diego and as a Lecturer at Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences in Germany. She is committed to interdisciplinary dialogues and global approaches to the challenges of today’s societies, with a special interest in Science Diplomacy, Public History, and Foreign Cultural Policy. At the MCAA, she is the former West Coast coordinator of the USA Chapter, a member of the Spain-Portugal Chapter, and a member of the Communication Working Group and the Policy Working Group, where she currently leads the Science Diplomacy Task Force.
