The Course on Port Economics and Business will take place from 4 to 8 May at the Antwerp Rail School in Belgium.

The course is open to academic researchers (students, researchers, PhD students) and professionals (from industry and public authorities) and from all kinds of backgrounds, research fields and interests, holding a Master's degree or equivalent.

The aim of the course is to provide participants advanced training in port economics, business and management, and have them obtain improved skills and knowledge to advance their careers.

Core topics of the course are:

  • The evolution of a seaport’s role and network function and strategies of related actors;
  • Trade developments and forecasting;
  • Green innovation initiatives in seaports;
  • Port concession and organisation;
  • Port financing and public-private financing.

Each session is composed of a conceptual-academic contribution followed by a real-life business application. The academic lecturers are all part of TransportNET or its wider network. The business cases will be presented by both port authority experts and private business actors.
