The First Annual Conference of MCAA China Chapter and the China-Europe S&T Talent Forum was successfully held in Munich, Germany
On April 1-2, 2023, The First Annual Conference of MCAA China Chapter and the China-Europe S&T Talent Forum was successfully held in Munich, Germany, in the form of "global live broadcast + offline".
The annual conference was jointly organized by the MCAA China Chapter and MCAA, aiming to strengthen communications between Marie Curie scholars in various fields, promote exchanges and cooperation between the Marie Curie Action Plan and well-known institutions and organizations at home and abroad, and promote in-depth cooperation between Sino-European scholars and enterprises in different fields. The Marie Curie Action Plan is a series of key scientific research funds established by the European Commission, and it is also one of the most competitive and prestigious research and innovation talent programs in Europe and even in the world. The theme of this year's conference was "Excellence, Research, Mobility". According to statistics, it attracted more than 50 offline representatives and over 6,500 online people from more than 20 countries.
This conference included academician reports, keynote speeches, and personal development experience sharing and communication by outstanding Marie Curie alumni. It focused on in-depth discussions on the technological iteration, international cooperation, exchanges between academia and industry in the post-epidemic era, and personal development of outstanding young scholars overseas, especially focusing on research cooperation and communication in cutting-edge fields such as environmental protection and new energy, human future and technological development, medicine and health, and nanomaterials.
The opening ceremony invited five heavyweight guests to give speeches. They were Academician Meng Liqiu (Professor and Former Vice President of Technical University of Munich, Member of the German National Academy of Sciences, Member of the Bavarian Academy of Sciences), Prof. Ding Yongjian (Professor and Former Vice President of Magdeburg-Stendal University of Applied Sciences), Ms. Senem Sanal-Erginel (Policy Officer of European Commission), Mr. HARÐARSON Halldor Berg (Chief Representative of EURAXESS China), and Dr. EMIDIO Gledson (Vice Chair of the MCAA). Prof. Ai Zhengtao (Professor from Hunan University, Chair of the MCAA China Chapter), delivered the welcome speech.
In the academician report session, Academician Wang Zhonglin (Director of the Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Foreign Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Member of European Academy of Sciences, etc.), Academician Chen Deliang (Chair Professor from University of Gothenburg, foreign member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, member of the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences, etc.), and Academician Duan Shumin (Professor from Zhejiang University, Member of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Member of Sciences for the Developing World) respectively gave presentations on the topics of "Triboelectric Nanogenerator (TENG) - From Science Breakthrough to Technology Innovation", "Future of Humanity: The Role of Science and Technology", and "Analysis for Neural Circuits of Innate Behavior". They used their own research experiences as examples to indicate the cutting-edge disciplines and future directions in their respective fields.
During the invited keynote session, industry-renowned experts such as Prof. Wang Aijie from Harbin Institute of Technology, Prof. Wen Dongsheng from Technical University of Munich, and Prof. Liu Sifeng from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics presented their cutting-edge breakthroughs and work insights in their respective fields on topics such as "Risk Perception and Intelligent Management of Urban Water System" "Our Energy Challenges" and "Blaze a Trail - 40 Years' Establishment & Development of Grey System Theory" Their presentations provided important references for the conference attendees.
This conference also included activities such as Marie Curie Alumni sharing their personal development experiences, alumni forums, academic dialogues, industry roundtable forums, alumni introductions, and exchange meetings, enabling participants to fully explore and exchange experiences. Offline attendees, representing various fields and perspectives, conducted unique reports, exchanges, and discussions, resulting in intense collisions of various new viewpoints and concepts.
This year's conference marked the first public appearance of the Marie Curie Chinese Scholars, an outstanding group that showcased their broad international vision, cross-cultural communication, and future leadership advantages, signifying their gradual maturation and historical mission to undertake China-Europe scientific and technological cooperation and personnel exchanges.
