Following Dr Hermann Hauser’s Government-commissioned review of the network of Catapult Centres - new centres designed to provide space for university-business collaboration on commercialisation in a specific field of cutting edge technology - this seminar will focus on the next steps for the development of the existing centres and future expansion of the network.
Delegates - including key policymakers and stakeholders from universities and R&D-intensive industries - will consider the recommendations in the report, including the proposed expansion of 1-2 centres a year to achieve 30 by 2030 as well as greater engagement with SMEs, and the practical challenges for achieving these goals.
Potential expansion of the scope of Catapult Centres will also be discussed including possible role in skills development for the particular sectors of focus, acting in an advisory capacity to Government on wider barriers to innovation and building links with the investment community.
