ReFocuS Researchers’ Night, 2017-09-29, in seven Serbian cities

ReFocuS. Researchers’ Night is a free event, supported by the European Commission as the part of the Horizon 2020 program, part of the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions, and thus a program designed to boost European research careers. The event is going to take place on 29^th September 2017 in seven cities throughout Serbia: Belgrade, Niš, Pirot, Kragujevac, Požarevac, Petnica and Inđija. The Institute for biological research “Siniša Stanković” (IBISS) coordinates the ReFocuS project, together with its project partners: Faculty of Sciences and Mathematics Niš, the Cultural Heritage Preservation Institute Kragujevac, and Center for the Promotion of science Belgrade.

The aim of ReFocuS is to extensively improve the public attention to science, and its importance for society and well-being by bringing back the focus of the general public to researchers, and the results of their studies. Inspired by the current situation in Europe concerning migration, we aim to ReFocuS public attention on the modern EU concept of: (i) mobility of researchers and ideas, as a basis for economy and social prosperity, and on the transdisciplinarity of research, as the essential concept of contemporary research and communication.

One of the obligatory activities for the last Friday in September is Euro corner. In Euro corner, we are planning presentations of different exchange programs for students, and short- and long-term programs for researchers, by means of brochures, discussions and networking with MSC fellows. For that reason we will be more than happy if you would agree to present your MSC project , show to the general public how interesting and applicable science is, and how your project will contribute to the future. We also want to promote MSC fellows as role models for the school kids, and motivate them to embrace research as a carrier choice.
