Artificial Intelligence
# Overview:
The Artificial Intelligence (AI) General Interest Group (GIG) is an inclusive and dynamic community designed to explore, understand, and shape the rapidly evolving landscape of AI in research and beyond. This group is not just for AI experts but for everyone—regardless of your background or level of expertise. In today’s world, AI is becoming mainstream, powering versatile and accessible tools that impact all of us. Whether you’re a seasoned researcher, a curious beginner, or anywhere in between, the AI GIG offers a space for you to learn, engage, and contribute to the ongoing dialogue about the future of research, science, and society in the age of AI.
# Objectives:
- Disseminate Knowledge on AI for Scientific Advancement:
We aim to make the evolving role of AI in scientific research accessible and understandable to researchers across all fields. Through various resources, we will bridge the gap between AI advancements and their applications in different disciplines.
- Co-create and Deliver AI Training for Research:
Our group will collaborate with AI experts and educational partners to design and deliver targeted training programs. These programs will empower researchers to use AI tools effectively, lead innovative projects and integrate AI into their research workflows.
- Advise Policymakers on the Transformative Impact of AI in Science:
By providing evidence-based insights, we will guide policymakers on the implications of AI in science. We aim to ensure policies are informed by the latest research and ethical considerations, fostering responsible AI use.
# Potential Activities:
- Educational Webinars and Workshops: We will organize sessions covering various aspects of AI, from foundational knowledge to advanced applications, tailored to different levels of expertise.
- Collaborative Training Programs: Our group will offer hands-on training in AI tools and methodologies designed in collaboration with AI specialists and educational institutions.
- Resource Library: We will curate and share articles, white papers, and case studies highlighting the intersection of AI and scientific research.
- Policy Forums and Advisory Committees: The group will actively engage in policy discussions, prepare briefs, and participate in dialogues shaping AI’s future in research and society.
- Networking and Collaboration Opportunities: We will facilitate connections between researchers, AI experts, and industry leaders, fostering collaborations that drive innovation.
