About the MCAA
The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) is a global network of researchers who have benefited from or are benefiting from the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA). The MCAA supports and contributes to advancing knowledge for a global, diverse, and informed society. Its primary focus is to support its members’ career development, offer networking opportunities, and contribute to shaping research and innovation policies in the EU. Currently, the MCAA has over 24,000 members from 150+ countries, at all career stages and from diverse research fields.
Job description
The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) is looking for a Communication Officer to join the MCAA Secretariat. The Officer will primarily work on Horizon Europe projects, focusing on planning and executing efficient, targeted communications, while also contributing to the Association's communication activities.
Key responsibilities
The tasks of the Communication Officer include, but are not limited to:
Development of the communication, dissemination, exploitation and/or stakeholder engagement strategies for the two projects
Create, curate, manage, and optimise content for social media and other digital channels (e.g., newsletters, blogs, and websites).
Ensure brand consistency in style, quality, and tone of voice across all communication channels.
Analysing communication performance metrics and providing regular reporting on engagement, reach, and impact.
Collaborate with cross-functional, international teams to ensure efficient workflow and smooth operations.
Support the proofreading and editing of statements, reports, deliverables, press releases, website texts, and internal documents for the projects and the MCAA.
Drafting, preparation and finalisation of dissemination, communication and exploitation-related deliverables and reports, as per the Grant Agreement
Overview and managing the successful achievement of dissemination, communication and exploitation related KPIs, as per the Grant Agreement
What we expect
The successful candidate should have:
Demonstrated experience in drafting and preparing communication, dissemination and exploitation-related deliverables and reports in Horizon Europe projects.
A graduate qualification or proven experience in communication, public relations, journalism, or a related field.
Excellent writing and editing skills in English for both general audiences (though still high-level style public outreach texts) and professional/institutional audiences.
Proficiency in digital communication tools, including social media management platforms, content management systems, data analysis tools for tracking communication performance, and email marketing tools.
Fair knowledge of Adobe InDesign, Illustrator, and Photoshop to interact proficiently with the Association’s Graphic Designer.
Proficiency in Google Workspace and Microsoft Office Suite.
Good knowledge of Monday.com (or similar applications).
Excellent organisational and time management skills.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion.
Detail-oriented with a focus on accuracy and efficiency.
Ability to multitask and prioritise tasks effectively.
Team player with a proactive approach.
The readiness to join an international virtual team.
A C1 level in English is required
Available to work during Western European working hours.
Possibility to travel roughly three times a year, generally within the European Union, to project meetings, MCAA Annual Conferences and potentially other conferences/meetings that are relevant to the Association.

The C2 level is an advantage.
Professional experience in communications in an international and/or research-related setting.
Experience from the communication, dissemination, and exploitation activities of Horizon Europe-funded research projects.
Professional experience in the fields of science diplomacy and/or research assessment.
Proven significant experience with the work, channels, and outlets of the MCAA.
What we offer
A freelance service contract until 30 September 2026 (trial period) with a strong possibility of long-term renewal until 30 May 2029.
Compensation is based on the candidate’s experience, with a daily (8 working hours) gross rate ranging between 180 and 200 euros. A correction coefficient may apply depending on the geopolitical location.
Workload: Approximately 215 days per calendar year with flexible working hours (roughly 18 days/month).

Timeline for application
