Community Officer/Manager (Closed)
Job description:
MCAA is looking for an enthusiastic and proactive Community Officer/Manager to help us amplify, connect and expand important existing work within our strong community.
The Community Manager will be responsible for providing administrative, communications, and logistical support to our 35 Chapters and 10 Working Groups, including but not limited to:
Community Engagement:
- Cultivate and nurture a sense of belonging within the MCAA community.
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among members, thematic working groups, and geographical chapters.
- Actively participate in discussions, addressing member queries, and ensuring a positive community experience.
Event and Activity Management
- Assist in the organisation and execution of events, webinars, and activities hosted by MCAA and its working groups.
- Coordinate logistics, communication, and promotional efforts for both virtual and in-person events.
- Ensure post-event follow-up and gather feedback for continuous improvement.
Cross-functional coordination
- Collaborate with various teams within MCAA to ensure cohesive implementation of community initiatives.
- Act as a liaison between working groups, chapters, the MCAA Board & operational team
- Facilitate communication and collaboration among members, thematic working groups, and geographical chapters.
Career Development support
- Contribute to the development and enhancement of the community and other MCAA services (such as the MCAA Academy platform)
- Support career development activities by connecting members with relevant resources, mentorship opportunities, and professional development initiatives.
Financial Administration
- Manage reimbursement requests from members.
- Work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely processing of reimbursement requests.
What we expect: A graduate qualification or higher;
- Proven experience in community management, preferably in an international or research-focused context.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational and multitasking abilities.
- Familiarity with event management and financial administration.
- Passion for supporting the career development of researchers and professionals.
- Excellent teamwork abilities, particularly in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary context
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
- The readiness to join an international virtual team
Will be considered as advantages:
- A master’s degree in a relevant field
- Two years+ experience in a similar role
- A person residing in Belgium or willing to relocate to Belgium, if necessary
What we offer:
- MCAA service contract as a freelancer from April 2024 until the end of December 2024, renewable depending on the performance and the availability of the budget
- Compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, with a daily gross rate ranging from 140 euros to 160 euros (for the Officer position). A correction coefficient may apply depending on the geopolitical location.
- The position is expected to be full-time, approximately 38 hours per week
