We are looking for a talented and motivated postdoctoral researcher to carry out cutting-edge research in the field of electronic devices and transport, based on silicene, and other 2D materials beyond graphene. The position will be for two years, and will take place at DTU Nanotech (http://www.nanotech.dtu.dk/), Danish Technical University.

The research on 2D materials at DTU Nanotech is rapidly growing with activities oriented towards basic and applied research – experimental, industrial and theoretical research alike – and with strong international collaborations. Furthermore, DTU is host to the Center of Excellence CNG (Center of Nanostructured Graphene) with more than 30 researchers and students focused on the development of graphene physics and engineering.

Responsibilities and tasks
In particular, your work will mainly consist of:

  • processing of 2D materials-based FET devices (primarily silicene)
  • characterization with Raman spectroscopy
  • lithographic device fabrication using electron beam lithography
  • measurement of device’s transport properties at high and low temperatures

The goal is to develop robust and long-lasting FET devices based on silicene and other 2D materials beyond graphene.

You will also be involved in international collaborations focused on the realization of opto-electronic devices, like photodetectors and photovoltaic solar cells, based on silicene and other two-dimensional materials beyond graphene.

The work is funded by the Villum project “Two-dimensional silicon for electronics” (duration: four years).

Qualifications

  • Candidates should have a PhD degree in physics, materials science, electric engineering or equivalent
  • experience in working in cleanroom environment
  • experience in device processing of two-dimensional materials, including nanopatterning via electron beam lithography
  • experience in electrical characterization of two-dimensional material devices
  • other relevant characterization techniques for two-dimensional materials, such as Raman spectroscopy, SEM and AFM
  • solid knowledge of concepts and methods in the field/literature, especially within device electronics and transport measurements

To apply, please submit your online application no later than 20 May 2018 (local time).

The application file must include:

  • Application (cover letter, max. 1 page)
  • CV
  • Diploma (MSc/PhD)
  • List of publications
  • Names and email addresses of 2 researchers for possible reference letters
