We are looking for:
Postdoc in Neutrophil Migration
Are you a PhD cell biologist looking for a great opportunity for the transition into the industry or as an entrepreneur? Here a great opportunity for the next step in Amsterdam
Working environment and Job description: Microbiome is one of our 4 SMEs and focusses on autoimmune, chronic inflammatory diseases, infectious disease and human biomarker research to be translated into diagnostic assays to be implemented in Health Care Systems. Currently, we have developed different CE-IVD certified assays for our own companies (PRESTO CT-NG, PRESTO-TV, Molecular Culture kit, CeliaSCAN) but also for other companies. Our SMEs have assays in development based on mRNA and host genetic markers, and we want to extend within Microbiome our expertise to neutrophil function and in vitro cell models with a strong focus on celiac disease. This will complete the available biomarker panel in addition to our RNA/DNA based assays. You will be working in a highly innovative environment focused on developing and bringing a new diagnostic assay on the market in the field of Life Sciences. We have all the facilities for research, CE-IVD marking, production and market access.
Main tasks in the project:
• Develop a neutrophil migration assay to study neutrophil migration patterns in health and gluten-related disorders for the development of a new type of diagnostic assay.
• Develop a biomarker panel based on neutrophil function in celiac disease
Personal Career Development Plan (PCDP): To best fit the specific needs and wants of the EU Innovative associate (IA) we will develop a personal career development plan, including activities for training and personal development. The PCDP will be finalized in month 1 of the project and ensure that coordinator and IA understand and agree on the research and (complementary) training objectives. The tailored training programme will supplement the core training provided by the European Commission. The core training will focus on industrial innovation and business management (12 working days). In addition, we provide the opportunity to gain innovation and business management skills in a multidisciplinary setting and the additional potential participation in a BioBusiness Summerschool providing a hands-on training course that develops the professional and personal capabilities of entrepreneurial professionals in biotech for the IA. This is very valuable for the career and skills development whether the IA will be in the process of starting a biotech company, or working towards a management position, or when staying in Academia. If the IA is successful in Microbiome opportunities to build his/her own research line with translational diagnostic application within Microbiome be given.
Contract: 12 month, max (gross) salary € 66.000 per year Reallocation costs max € 5.000 In addition to your salary, the employee receives an annual holiday pay and an end-of-the-year bonus. Employees with a full-time contract (36 hours per week) are entitled to 21 days off. In addition, Microbiome also offers a good pension scheme via ABP.
ELIGIBILITY CRITERIA The candidate is only eligible if he/she hasn’t lived and/or worked in the Netherlands for 12 months in the 3 years prior to the start of the contract.
