The project A multidimensional toolkit for modern electron microscopy was recently funded by The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research. The goal of the project is to develop a toolkit enabling high throughput, high precision scanning and multidimensional experiments on existing transmission electron microscopes for materials and life science research. Acquisition and processing of multidimensional data is the core of this project. Key challenges include the assembly of hardware-based data collection instrumentation as well as the development of software-based analysis tools for very large data sets.
The position will involve development of methods for processing of large volumes of data by (semi-)automated means, to quantitatively analyze the processed data and to present the results using open source software. The postdoc will also develop software and/or hardware to control transmission electron microscopes.
The degree should have been completed no more than three years before the deadline for applications. An older degree may be acceptable under special circumstances, which may involve sick leave, parental leave, clinical attachment, elected positions in trade unions, or similar.
