Senior Scientific Programmes Officer at Royal Society

Based at the Royal Society’s offices at Carlton House Terrace, London, with some travel and overnight stays within the UK required, and the possibility of international travel

The scientific programme is one of the core strands of the Royal Society’s work. Our scientific meetings bring together scientists from around the world to present and discuss new research and our medals, awards and prize lectures recognise excellence in science and technology. The Society is looking at ways to enhance its existing highly regarded programme and is looking to recruit a professional and enthusiastic individual to join the team. The individual will need to have a passion for science and a desire to work with some of the world’s leading scientists.

Working with the Head of Section and Scientific Programmes Manager, the Senior Scientific Programmes Officer will have responsibility for one of the major strands of the Scientific Programmes remit. They will also work with the Scientific Programmes Officers to deliver, strengthen and develop:

  • scientific meetings primarily held in London and at Chicheley Hall (but could also be held elsewhere in the UK or internationally);
  • the awarding of medals, prizes and associated events;
  • development courses for scientists
  • other events or activities which may arise from time to time to support the scientific programme of the Society.
