​Eugenio Otal

Eugenio Otal is an ordinary Board member of the MCAA and Associate Professor at Shinshu University in Japan. He holds a BSc and MSc in Chemistry and a PhD in Physics. Following postdoctoral research at EMPA in Switzerland, he returned to Argentina, where he participated in an MSCA RISE project. In 2019, he moved to Japan. His research focuses on Metal-Organic Frameworks (MOFs) for isotopic enrichment, electronic properties, and X-ray spectroscopy. Within the MCAA, he is a founding member and Chair of the Japan Chapter (2024–2026). He launched and coordinated the MCAA AsiaConnect meeting with the India, China, and Southeast Asia Chapters (2024 and 2025). He was awarded the MCAA Outstanding Contributor Award in 2024, and in 2025, the Japan Chapter received the Best Non-European Chapter Award. He also participates in venture competitions, having practical experience moving ideas from the lab into the real world.
