Singapore (12 June 2017) - MCAA Southeast Asia Chapter conducted the inaugural meeting of the Chapter hosted by the EU Delegation Office at Raffles City Tower Singapore. The meeting is attended by 15 Chapter members coming from the ASEAN countries, i.e. Thailand, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia and the Philippines. The meeting discussed the MCAA mandate, mission, election of Chapter Chair 2018-2019, creation of the country representative (contact point), identify common priorities on research mobility and collaboration between ASEAN and EUROPE as well as strengthening cooperation between Chapter member, and developing strategy to expand Chapter membership and promote it to create stronger brand image in the ASEAN. In the afternoon, the Chapter members involved in Voice of Researchers Workshop Advancing Your Research Career in Europe. This Workshop is a join event between the Chapter and EURAXESS ASEAN. This workshop attended by about 30 European researchers and stakeholders who are based in Singapore. In this workshop, we address important question, in particular Horizon 2020, on how do third country researchers benefits from EU mobility programmes, what are the main obstacles to participation and what type of support measures could increase participation rates. We managed to make recommendations to deal with question and have communicated via Skype directly to our contacts in Brussels.
