Gender Summit conferences
GEMS WG attended two Gender Summit Conferences, respectively
Gender Summit Africa GS5, 28-30 April 2015 in Cape Town, South Africa on the theme Poverty alleviation and economic empowerment through scientific reserach and innovation. Better knowledge from and for Africa - attended by Wuraola Akande funded by African Chapter and GEMS WG - Wuraola gave a presentation of MSCA Program and provided the audience with information about MSCA Actions, MCAA and GEMS WG and African Chapter. The participation was very positive, visitors form academia and industry both appreciated the effort to educate the audience with MCAA objetcives and MSCA Program for potential beneficiaries
Gender Summit Europe GS7 5-6 November 2015 Berlin - Mastering gender in research performance, contexts and outcomes - Day1: The benefits of gender equal and gender sensitive research and innovation and Day2: Enhancing the capacity of policy actions to achieve lasting change - Giovanna Avellis attended the conference and presented a poster exploiting the work done in the GEMS WG on Role Models i- the poster was classified third on about 35 poster presented there. - promotion material of MCAA was distributed thanks to INOVAMAIS and INTRASOFT for the support - the conference was funded by GEMS WG and Internal Governance and Chapter Management Team (IGCMT) WG - I would like to thank this WG for the support
The Summit took place in Berlin and preceded the Falling Walls celebration as a reminder that gender inequality is also a wall that also must fall. GS7 demonstrated how to apply gender lens to improve effectiveness of high-level policy alliances to enable lasting changes to take place. 350 participants heard from 80 speakers.
