Yes, I fully agree with Riccardo (whom I thank for the initiative). In particular, with the progression he suggests. I will pass the word to the 50 members of the sicily chapters within my report on the GA and I trust the number of those interested will increase.

Hi,
I am interested in being part of this group. As an anthropologist, I am interested in the relationships netween the effects of the climate change and the social conflicts linked to them, particularly among indigenous groups in South America.
Best,
Juan
Dear Riccardo,
thanks a lot for having revived the group. I agree with you that it is a great opportunity to get something going and apply for projects. Our strength, beside being former MC fellows, is that we have a much-appreciated interdisciplinar approach. I only have a couple of comments:
1- one first step towards the coordination of a transnational cooperation may be to apply for a COST action (http://www.cost.eu/participate/open_call). The call closes soon (24th March) and I am not sure that we'd be in time to include the Association; as you heard at the GA, it is not yet clear if we can bid to European funded programms and it is my impression that it will take a while to figure it out. I think that it'd be highly beneficial for all of us to apply to this call, with or without the Association.
2- Besides tha participation to the forthcoming calls, I think that it would be good to gather the experts on various aspects of climate change under a working group. In my opinioin, if we get many members, we may organize (or get involved in) activities aimed at spreading the conciousness of climate change to the general public.

Yes, what Marco proposed is a good idea. COST could be an opportunity, but I guess for this call there is not much time left. COST is very competitive and we should start working on it right now for getting some chance and writing a good proposal. I´m at the moment working on another COST submission and it takes a lot of time if you do not have any support. Of course there are 2 calls a year so we can even take more time and submit it in September.
Let´s just do a survey, who is willing to do it now? In case someone would like to do it of course he/she MUST dedicate some time in creating the network and writing the proposal. I would also say that being MC fellow/alumnus in this case is not added value because the evaluators do not evaluate the team. I´m part of 2 COST actions and when we submitted them the procedures were different, but I guess this is not changed.
So rise your hands ...

I am hesitant. Doing it now seems a bit rush, but I fear that by postponing it to September we may lose momentum.
I would do this. Let me first ask EVERYBODY interested to fill the sheet prepared by Nadia Ameli.

Once we have a list of potential partners we may have a better idea of the feasibility for March.

I am asked for permission to fill in the doodle ...
Same problem as Maria. I requested for permission to fill the doodle.

Dear Luigi, Marco and all,
I would be interested in joiof ning a group and an intiative (COST action?) on climate change. I'm an agronomist and I would be interested in doing some work on the impact (and the adaptation) of climate change on agriculture.
Cheers

Dear Ricciardo and all,
Thanks Ricciardo for your work and for giving us new energies and ideas! I do not know if there is another microbiologist in the group, but I would be really pleased to help with the proposal writing about the effects of global warming in the soil carbon sinks at a biological and ecological level. Microbes can create a huge positive feedback effect degrading biomass if T rises. I guess the proposal for the MCAA should be something short.
Thinking about EU funding, I did my post-doc within a ITN programme and it was an amazing experince for all the people involved.
