Hi all, I wrote a month ago telling about a Gender (in)Equality group we wanted to created at Institut de Physique du Globe de Paris. I would like to inform you that we were “accepted” and now is official, yes!! One of the activities of the group is organizing talks/workshops on topics related, but not limited to, women and leadership, scientific studies regarding gender inequality, maternity/paternity leave, overcoming sexism and stereotypes, etc. The seminars/workshop will start next January. We also count with a little budget. Would any of you like to be a guest speaker for a seminar?

Dear Maria 

it is a very good news!! Please let me know your plans for the seminars and we will provide as GEMS WG speakers...I have been at Gender Summit Europe last week and contacted Prof. Sveva Avveduto director of CNR Italy...she can give a very good talk on the project GENERA, an European project on Gender Equality Plans in Physics!!

Your initiative is very welcome in GEMS WG...we need new activities, and I will add you in the Plan of activities of GEMS.

Congratulations!!! As Gianna pointed out you will have several people from GEMS-WG interested in giving a talk in your group. I personally will also be interested but probaby in the end of the next year (let's say October-November 2017).

Thank you very much for your warm replies! We are planning to start with the internal institute meetings in January and now we are encouraging people to come (the hard part I guess!).

We are thinking that organizing a GEMS seminar for next year (a workshop day with several talks) could be a nice idea. What do you think? (if so, please let me know should we communicate, here or by e-mail?)

I will keep you uploaded with the future activities.
