Invitation to take part in the MCAA Survey on Research Assessment
Dear all,
Research Assessment is a crucial topic that is also advancing in Slovenia, with some aspects improving and others still leaving things to be desired. As the MCAA is rather influential, including with the European Commission, and many findings from there are making it down into our national environment, this call for your input by the MCAA board is an opportunity not to be missed:
Research assessment plays a vital role in every researcher’s career as it influences funding, promotion, and recognition. Yet, many of us feel that current practices don’t fully reflect the diverse reality of today’s research community.
That's why the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) has launched a new survey to gather direct evidence on how research and researchers are assessed within the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA).
This is your opportunity to contribute to a critical conversation about the future of research.
We want to hear your perspective on key topics, including:
Your understanding of current research assessment practices.
Your personal experiences with assessment during MSCA projects.
How researchers are selected and promoted within the MSCA.
Your broader thoughts on reforming research assessment to be more inclusive and forward-looking.
The survey is open until 19 October 2025. It takes approximately 15–20 minutes to complete, and your progress will be saved automatically—you can return to the survey anytime using the same link, within two weeks.
Complete the survey here: MCAA Survey on Research Assessment 2025
Your participation is crucial. The evidence we collect will directly inform the MCAA's policy recommendations, helping us advocate for changes that better support interdisciplinary work, recognise non-academic impact, and embrace Open Science practices. Your feedback will help the MSCA Unit of the European Commission better understand our community’s views on research assessment. You can find our recent policy statements here.
As a thank you for your time and valuable insights, we will draw five complimentary onsite tickets and 15 complimentary online tickets to the MCAA Annual Conference in spring 2026.
If you have any questions, please contact us at contact@mariecuriealumni.eu.
Thank you for helping us shape a fairer and more effective research ecosystem!
Best regards,
The MCAA
