MCAA GEDI Participates in UN Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70)

The Marie Curie Alumni Association Gender, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (GEDI) Working Group will actively participate in the 70th session of the United Nations Commission on the Status of Women (CSW70) in New York.

As part of this engagement, MCAA GEDI is co-organising a parallel event with BPW International (Business and Professional Women) at the United Nations. The event, titled “From Law to Life: How Women’s Organizations are Advancing Justice through Community Accountability Mechanisms,” will bring together the presidents of leading international women’s organisations and the Vice-Chair of the UN CEDAW Committee to discuss how civil society can help translate gender equality legislation into tangible outcomes for women and girls.

The panel will be moderated by Dr Luana Parisi, Co-Chair of the MCAA GEDI Working Group, who will be present in New York for the session. The discussion will focus on strengthening accountability mechanisms and the role of global women’s networks in advancing gender equality across areas such as economic empowerment, education, protection from violence, and political participation.

Through this initiative, the MCAA GEDI Working Group contributes to international policy dialogue and reinforces the Marie Curie Alumni Association’s commitment to promoting gender equality, inclusive research environments, and the Sustainable Development Goals.
