MCAA SEA Chair as Jury for the 5th Asian Science Diplomats

Chapter Chair of MCAA ASEAN, Dr. Jen Elmaco, was part of the jury for the prestigious search of the 5th Asian Science Diplomats last August 26-27.
The main objective of the Asian Science Diplomats  is to strengthen the integration of science and diplomacy for the benefit of the region's strategic capacities, policy goals, and the development of solutions for societal challenges.

Apart from recognizing the new ambassadors of science diplomacy, the specific objectives of the program are as follows:
o To bring principles and applications of science diplomacy to the attention of both the research and diplomatic communities in the region
o To identify the gaps, constraints, and challenges in science diplomacy
o To provide the Asian Science Diplomats the strategies in achieving global influence at the interface of science, technology, and diplomacy
o To train the Science Diplomats on how to use science diplomacy to influence policy

Dr. Jen was joined by the following judges to compose the panel:RIA PERSAD, Founder and CEO, Statweather and President, European Chamber of Digital Commerce, Strategic Advisor, US NOAA National Centers for Environmental Information; ABHIMANYU VEERAKUMARASIVAM, Dean, School of Medical and Life Sciences, Sunway University andChairperson, International Network for Government Science Advice (Asia Chapter); TARO SONOBE,Research Administrator, Kyoto University Research Administration Office and Deputy Director, Kyoto University ASEAN Center; RICHARD HIRSCH, Chair, Applied Planning and Infrastructure, Inc. (Ret.) and Former Chief of Party, USAID; REGINALD YU,President, Times Paint Corporation and Past President, Anvil Business Club; GLENN BANAGUAS,Chair, Asian Science Diplomats, Chair, US-ASEAN Fellows for Science and Technology and Climate Diplomat, EU-Asia Expert Panel for Climate Diplomacy and Environmental Security.

A training on science diplomacy is currently planned for the MCAA in Southeast Asia.
