The following is a news email from the VoYS network, with a number of interesting opportunies.

We’ve opened applications for our London workshop, and have a load of other opportunities for you to stand up for science:

Standing up for Science London workshop - 30 November

Our next UK workshop will be on the 30 November at the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. This workshop will be ahead of the awarding of the 2017 John Maddox Prize. This is an amazing opportunity for early career researchers, particularly those working in difficult subject areas, to meet researchers who promote science in the face of hostility and are recognised for their achievements. Deadline for applications is 5:00pm 13 November.

Taylor & Francis engaging with the media webinar

Taylor & Francis are hosting an exciting free webinar on Thursday 12 October at 9:30am - 10:30am BST for academics who are looking to learn more about engaging with the media including how and why they should. NERC public engagement month

October is public engagement month on social media for @NERCscience! What are your engagement experiences and what works well? Why do you engage? What do you wish you knew when you started? Share your thoughts and images, using the hashtag #NERCengage and join the conversation in a live Twitter chat on Thursday 26 October. If you are interested in contributing to their blog about what you do to engage or even how a VoYS workshop helped you, please contact Karen (socialmedia@nerc.ac.uk).
