Postdoctoral candidates in cancer therapeutic resistance for a minimum of two years contract in Barcelona.

We are seeking highly motivated early career scientists with potential to win a 2-years contract “Beatriu de Pinós” postdoctoral fellowship funded by the Catalan Government. The position is to conduct research at the Catalan Institute of Oncology (ICO, Barcelona, Spain), a public comprehensive cancer center, affiliated to the Bellvitge Biomedical Research Institute (IDIBELL). Successful candidates will have the opportunity to initiate and lead high-quality research within the newly launched research program ProCURE (Program Against Cancer Therapeutic Resistance) at the ICO. ProCURE encourages strong clinical interactions and multidisciplinary approaches in . The program offers a stimulating research atmosphere, fosters independence and provides an environment in which collaboration and exchange of ideas and know-how is actively encouraged with a strong commitment to translational research, which overall provides a lively and stimulating training environment for young talents.

The candidate will develop and lead his/her own research withinthe focus areas of one of the 10 different research groups at ProCURE, which have produced high-quality science in the following topics across major cancer types:

• Angiogenesis

• Cancer development

• Metastasis

• Immunotherapy

• Metabolic stemness

• Patient-derived xenografts

• Stroma-tumor interaction

• Cancer genetics

• Bioinformatics

a) They must have obtained their doctorate between 1 January 2009 and 31 December 2014 (the period for obtaining the doctorate can be from 1 January 2007 to 31 December 2014 if any of the following circumstances can be demonstrated as arising during said period: have benefitted from a period of maternity or paternity leave; have been responsible for children under six, persons with a physical or mental disability or sensory impairment, or persons aged over sixty-five who depend upon the beneficiary and who require special care; have suffered a serious illness or an accident resulting in medical leave of more than six months).

b) Have, at the time of joining the host institute, a minimum of 2 years’ postdoctoral experience outside of Spain. This postdoctoral experience may, irrespective of the type of contract, have occurred in different institutions, provided that the total postdoctoral stay/visit is of at least two years.

c) They must not have resided or worked in Spain for more than 12 months in the three years prior to date of submission of the application.
