Hello everyone, I hope you all are doing great.t I have joined MSCA as a PhD in the cofund program. I started my phd in October 2024. I have come to know that MSCA and the hosting institute are supposed to cover the relocation expenses, such as a visa residence permit, and a one-way flight ticket. However, in my cofund, there is no such information yet, and none of the fellows have received any relocation allowance. Can someone please share their experience or some guidance?
Thank you in advance,
Regards
Lakshya

Hello Lakshya,
I began my MSCA-funded PhD project in 2023. In my case, obtaining reimbursement for visa fees required persistent follow-up with my institution and was only resolved after approximately one and a half years. However, the institution declined to reimburse the travel (plane ticket) expenses.
If your institution refuses to reimburse visa-related costs, I recommend contacting the REA Project Officer responsible for supervising your project. In my experience, their intervention was essential to push the project management to process the reimbursement.
Failure to reimburse eligible expenses after the end of your contract would constitute a direct breach of the Grant Agreement, for which the institution may be held liable.
