Researchers' Night - Meeting at Frascati
On September 28th I had an interesting meeting with Cristina Paducea, Project Officer of the European Commission - Research Executive Agency, and several MSCA fellows, at Frascati City Hall. This event was organized by Frascati Scienza (https://www.frascatiscienza.it/), as part of the European Researchers' Night 2018. We discussed lots of topics relevant to MSCA Fellows living in Italy. The bureaucracy and lack of institutional support seems to be a really common problem in Italy for MSCA fellows. The PO suggested that we should try to use the MCAA to help newcomers with settling down and provide guidelines on necessary paperwork.
I will used this opportunity to welcome our new members, who attended this meeting, Elham Mousavian and Muhammad Hamidullah!
I disseminated my activities via Twitter (https://twitter.com/

I suggest that we organise more get-togethers among group members (to make up for the lack of institutional support that I undestand to be a common experience among MC fellows in Italy....)
Grear idea!!! I am at the University Federico II in Napoli. What kind of activity are you thinking in?
For the Researchers Night I was interviewed at RadioLabF2 to discuss what it's like to do a hashtag#MarieCurie PhD and about hashtag#antibioticsresistance live on air!. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1-pBEzRiA2YXur9SQEndmuSyQIoV9uU7o/view
Good to hear from a fellow at Unina. Is there already any regular social event for MSCA fellows (or other researchers) at Unina. If yes, may I ask you to let me know about it? Otherwise we might organise it
Great! I'm all in to participate in any gathering physically or through skype (maybe). I am also thinking about creating a hashtag about it and use it to share our experiences. Then new fellows can follow the subject easier. Any suggestion for it #???
I think it's a great idea to do the get togethers and also to help newcomers (such as myself) integrate better. I'm hopeful that i will be able to contribute to the activities, feel free to contact me directly for further discussion!
hi guys,
very glad to hear you want to meet: In fact, we need to have a kick off meeting as soon as the budget for the new year will be available.
Luigi
Absolutely! shall we aim at organising something maybe in Jan-Feb? I was thinking more of an informal get together but I’m open to other suggestions of course. I’m based in Milan but I’m happy to travel to wherever is most convenient for the other group members. I think the best way to go with it is to fix a date first, then to create a doodle poll to decide the location.
Ok then. I will create an attendance doodle on Monday to fix the date. You can sign up in the doodle and specify the dates you are available. I will post the link here on Monday. Then as Maria suggested, we repeat the process to fix the location as well.
I think meeting up as a group to be able to share our experiences is a great idea, so I’m already looking forward to the kick off meeting!
In terms of what Maria was saying about something more informal, I’d be happy to meet up with other MCAA members from the Lazio region for coffee and a chat at some point next month, just to be able to share ideas and experiences. If anyone Rome/Lazio based is interested in doing that then let me know and we can arrange something.
On hashtags, I saw on Twitter that the UK MCAA uses #pubsocial for their social meetings in London and other places, so maybe #coffeesocial might work in Italy.
Great idea guys! :)
I would be great to join from Genova, looking forward for the doodle =)
I would be glad to join from Florence and I'm looking forward for the doodles. Have a nice weekend!
I am very glad to jion from Rome, and get together with anyone of you. Nice weekend!
Super idea!! Is anyone doing a PhD in Padova/Venice?
Hi guys,
In order to organize the kick off meeting, I propose that each of us indicates on which dates is available in the doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/t8ckxubc5btszaw9
It Includes all the weekends in Dec 2018 and Jan, Feb 2019, except December 8th and the New Year holidays. So, we can fix the date and the location in November. I would suggest to indicate the dates until November 15th and then we will start to indicate the location for the agreed date.
Dear all,
I propose that we share this doodle among ALL members of the Italy chapter. In this way, we can use this meeting as a 2018 kick off meeting of the entire chapter. Ok?

Thank would be great, I agree!
Cheers
Vladislav
Agreed
Hi! I would also be glad to join from Bologna. :)
Hello everyone,
I officially start my industrial period this August in Bologna.
As an ESR in the industry, I feel a bit isolated from the scientific community. I am glad and I would like to join the future event to meet everyone!
A possible venue for the meeting could be Milan (I was reading in previous posts about the idea of having it elsewhere other than Rome). Of course I’m biased as I’m based in Milan;) but jokes aside, it’s amazingly well connected. I’m in Rome at the minute and it took me only 3 hours by train. Just throwing it out there...
Good idea to have the Italian Chapter meeting associated to this one
I would be glad to join from Campobasso,Molise region
Dear all,
many of us have already expressed their preference in terms of dates at this doodle: https://doodle.com/poll/t8ckxubc5btszaw9
it is time we decide about the venue for our meeting. I created this new doodle https://doodle.com/poll/pr7q83watdztxttp with the 4 possibilities that emerged from our exchange. Rome, Bologna, Milano, Pisa. Please express your preferences with a 'yes' but also with a 'yes, if necessary' (click twice on the option).
Once the preferences about dates and venue will be clear, we will finalize the meeting.
Thanks
Luigi Caranti
(Chair)
Dear all, I'm really happy to be part of this very active chapter.
Regarding the meeting, Is this doodle open also for people who have not started the fellowship yet?
Best.
Daniele Ancora.
if you have been awarded the fellowship, sure.
Hi,
I have problems to sign in the doodle, it doesn't accept me the username from MCAA, so I cannot vote...
What should I do?
Thank you very much,
Anna
Hi Anna,
I did not sign in with MCAA name, as I am usually signed in, I think it has to do with the fact that I am usually signed in in google. Try with your google account.
kind regards
Maria

It's an honour to be a member of Italy Chapter. As Radenka Krsmanovic Whiffen highlighted in her post, I would be glad to use this platform to help the newcommers integrate easier and faster as well as to promote events on architectural and digital design in Italy to which I contribute.
