I am currently working as a postdoctoral fellow at Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health, Boston, MA, USA, and currently acting as an East Coast coordinator for MCAA North America Chapter. I completed my Ph.D. as a Marie Curie fellow in 2022 from Poland. If I get an opportunity to represent as a chair of this chapter, I plan to help develop more networking opportunities amongst US/Canada-based MCAA members. Furthermore, I want to help voice the gaps that current MCAA fellows are facing in North America by liasoning with the MCAA board and EU. Another important agenda would be to ensure the North America Chapter board help create more career/ professional development opportunities for its members through joint events arranged by our chapter and working groups of MCAA.

I am an interdisciplinary trained socio-cultural anthropologist working on the topic of prehistoric kinship. As making kin is an important way to create households and communities, I wish to build on my professional experience and knowledge to make an impact, serve, and become a voice for researchers across disciplines in the capacity of the new chair of the MCAA North America Chapter. Originally from Slovenia, I studied and worked in Vienna since 2012. As of October 2023, I am a MC GF at the Field Museum in Chicago and serve as a MCAA Midwest Chapter coordinator and member of the Chapter Board of Directors (BoD). At the MCAA conference in Milan, I learned about the MCAA’s important role in advocating for mental health and sustainable careers in academia and beyond, a mission I fully subscribe to. I would be delighted to bring together the MCAA community members in the US by organizing a 1-day workshop in Chicago in the Summer of 2025. Why? First, to strengthen ties between the MCAA “Americas” chapters and second, to promote the Midwest as an excellent research environment alongside the US East and West Coast. I am committed to forwarding MCAA activities in the US and beyond and serve as a liaison between the MCAA and Euraxess. My mission is to strengthen ties between the community members and stakeholders while fostering community, creativity, and change towards sustainable careers for MCAA members across all disciplines and career stages.
