Dear Stefan,
I'd be very happy to contribute to the London M-C event.
Best regards,
Vasileios
Looking forward to hearing more about the details of where and when and meeting you all.
Great,
Count me in. I ll be more than happy to help any way I can.
Hi Stefan (et al),
I'm more than happy to help with organising a London meet-up, since my university is based there. My current availability is limited, for reasons of which you are aware, so any offers of additional help are extremely welcome. Many thanks indeed! I will be back in the loop fully asap. We have some excellent options for venues, all readily accessible via the Tube, and if Alumni need suggestions for reasonably-priced accommodation, I am also able to help with that.
All good wishes,
Elizabeth.
Hi Stefan, hi all,
Hi Stefan, hi all,
I am happy to contribute.
Presently I am based in Harpenden at the Rothamsted Research that could be considered as a good choice for the meeting. It is not actually London, but it is located just a few miles away from the M25 and can be easily reached by train in 20 min from King's Cross. The Rothamsted (http://www.rothamsted.ac.uk) is the most ancient agricultural research centre of the world (1843) and owns an excellent conference centre. Furthermore, people can be accommodated for cheap prices at the Manor (property of Rothamsted), a beautiful big house of the 13th century. If interested I can check the prices.
Very best wishes,
Vincenzo
Hi Stefan, hi all,
Happy to contribute, count me in for the organization. I am based in Birmingham, if needed I can come to London as well.
Looking forward to meeting you all,
All the best,
Mariachiara
Hello Stefan and all,
I will be happy to help from Greece
A good idea would be to meet up at some point, those who want to contribute to the event, and discuss in person. What do you think about that?
It is a great idea and I would be more than happy to help. I am based in Newcastle. Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Best Wishes
Arathi
The first two questions are: When would be good date, perhaps in October?
Secondly, does anyone know of a large room in central London that can be made available? It should be in Bloomsbury or somewhere else in Zone 1 ideally.
All the best,
Stefan
Hi Stefan (et al),
I think October (end of the month, when those teaching have got into a holding pattern?) would be good. I can sort us a room at Senate House, at the University of London, once we have some idea of numbers.
As a Plan B, I don't think Harpenden is a bad choice at all. (I know the place well.) It's not far from London and would make an excellent southern alternative to the hustle and bustle (and expense) of the city.
Yours, as ever,
Elizabeth.
Hi all,
I agree; October could be a good month. I'm based at King's College - Strand. I could ask for space here if you like, although I also like the idea of Senate House or Harpenden - would be nice to escape the chaos of the city...
Best,
Ainoa
Hi Ainoa, yes could ask for space at King's? I think we might easily be 50-100 people..
Senate House -- or Harpenden might be good too, though I think that many members might like to combine their attendance at the meeting with a visit of central London.
Hey Stefan
So do we have some sort of agenda for thie meeting?
Best Wishes
Arathi
Hi Arathi
The agenda would be
- talking about future activites of the UK chapter
- creating groups of people who would like to organize these activities in the UK
- meeting each other and exchanging ideas and experiences
Best
Stefan
Hi Stefan
Sounds Great! I am based in the North east of Uk. Count me in for any help.

Hello Stefan,
The British Computer Society may be glad to host the event
or I can ask my colleagues at South Bank Uni
Yes Niki it would be great if you could ask these places. thank you!
Stefan I just asked LSBU, if you send me your contact details they will contact you. thank you!
Hi Stefan and all,
I am an Early Stage Researcher (PhD) of a Marie Curie Network and I am based in Cardiff.
I would love to participate in the event but I will not be able to actively help much at this point (due to heavy workload)!
I would like to suggest that maybe a Doodle would be a good idea in order to secure a convenient date for most of the people and move onto booking the venue afterwards! I think a MC meerting based in Central London would be excellent!
Keep us posted :)
All the best,
Naya
mmmm I was wondering whether someone would attend the Manchester end of June meeting to get the proceedings

Dear Marie Curie fellows/alumni,
I am writing to those of you who had left message here on the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) message board saying that you would be happy to help with the organization of a Marie Curie meeting in London.
In order to make this process as easy as possible for everyone I suggest that we find a time for a Skype conference chat so that we can discuss how to plan this meeting. I would therefore kindly ask you to add me as a contact on Skype, my user name is:
bauer.st
I will then suggest a few different days/times to see when we can all make it for quick conference chat.
Hope you have been enjoying this month of July!
All the best,
Stefan
