“Marie Curie Meets Finland” marks the very first session of the new “Marie Curie Meets · Country Series,” a program designed to bring real experiences and practical insights from Marie Curie Fellows around the world. This inaugural event focuses on Finland, a country known for its high-quality research environment, innovation culture, and excellent living conditions for scholars.

The session is co-hosted by Dr. Fan Mo, a UK Royal Chartered Engineer and Marie Curie Fellow with research experience at Oxford and Cambridge, and Dr. Jiawei Yang, a Senior IEEE Member and Marie Curie Fellow at the University of Turku, whose work bridges AI, anomaly detection, and digital health. Together, they guide an in-depth discussion on MSCA opportunities, research culture in Finland, and academic career development.

The event features distinguished speakers from leading Finnish universities. Kārlis Rokpelnis from EURAXESS China introduces MSCA programs and mobility support. Dr. Hang Ruan from Tampere University shares his MSCA Postdoctoral Fellowship application journey. Ke Shu from the University of Helsinki discusses her computational linguistics PhD experience. Yudong Zhao, a Marie Curie Early-Stage Researcher at the University of Oulu, offers insight into environmental research and life in northern Finland. Chengtian Cui, tenure-track professor at Åbo Akademi University, reflects on academic life and energy systems research. Xiaotong Sun from the University of Turku introduces her experience studying EU AI law through the Marie Curie HAIF project.

Together, this diverse lineup presents a rich and authentic look into studying, conducting research, and building a career in Finland through the Marie Curie framework.
