MSC IF extension

1 min read Sep 05, 2017
Dear all, I am a MC postdoc researcher (Individual Fellowship). I´ve been told that the IF can be extended for several months even after the max. of 2 years. I had an accident and I am on sick leave. I am afraid that I won´t have time enough to finish the project, but I don´t find any info about this extension. Does anybody know something about this extension? Thanks a lot in advance, Best regards, Carmen

Dear Carmen,

I do not know about extension, but an Individiual Fellowship can be suspended, for reasons that, as I recall, include illness. The details should be in your Grant Agreement, I think you have to notify your employer, who can suspend your contract and advise the EC.

Best of luck, Daniel

Hi. You can suspend your project, for a minimum of three months, and it cannot be done retrospectively. I suspended mine for six months in total, due to critical illness. The EC were wonderfully supportive but a number of issues arose with my employers who expected/wanted me back at work on time.

The PO at REA will have the final decision but the Commission generally is sympathetic to all well founded requests

It is viaal to keep the Commission (REA) informed though, via your contract officer at your university
