Which is the policy for microgrants now? Is it again that you are not allowed one year to apply for another one? I am asking because of the GEMS session in Vienna. I've put it in the budget for the Romanian chapter but the budget is half now so it canot cover. Thanks, Maria

Dear Maria,

On the call page (https://www.mariecuriealumni.eu/micro-grants ), it clearly states “A member awarded a Micro Grant cannot apply for a second Micro Grant during a period of twelve months after the end (payment date) of the first grant. This time-limit also applies to micro-grants awarded under the previous contract, so  (at present) if you received a microgrant payment since early-January 2015, you will have to wait for the twelve-month anniversary before you apply again.

This being said, the GEMS working group might have the means to support you?

Also, the Executive Committee has kept a ‘reserve fund’ so that Chapters or Working Groups that have exhausted their budget, but still have worthwhile projects to defend, can ask for additional funding to be considered.

Best regards,

Simon

Hi Simon,

thanks for the answer. I doubt the GEMS group would have the funds, as they have 1000 eur a year as opposite to the 2000 the Romanian chapter has. I had it in the workplan of the Romanian chapter as we are 2 founding members in the organiser list of the session, and I think I could save the money from there, but I need the financial guidelines which I don't have yet. It is not a huge sum, I think 250 euro would be enough as I can register as student and sleep at a friend. Even if I don't sleep at a friend it is 20 euro a night at a place I know. The main expense is the about 160 euro for the flight.

thanks and kind regards

Dear Simon,

we got the GEMS budget and there is a maximum, however there are many events. I was asked if I cannot take the funds from the Romanian chapter though so I was wondering when the guidelines come. I am transforming the abstract to present the booklet on MC fellows from and in Romania in geosciences at the conference. In the initial budget this conference was foreseen for the Romanian chapter, even with 2 persons, but since it got cut to the half I don't know what got cut.

thank you and kind regards

I was even thinking if the budget allows for just the fee for my colleague case she gets a microgrant for travel and subsistence.
