Bridging Science and Business

This two-day event brings together cutting-edge doctoral research and career development opportunities for early-career researchers. Participants will have the opportunity to explore the latest research breakthroughs from the REDI (RMIT European Doctoral Innovators) Programme during the PhD Research Showcase. On the second day, the focus shifts to career development through the PhD Career Day, featuring discussions on post-PhD career pathways, transitions to industry, funding opportunities, and entrepreneurial journeys.

Standardisation is far more than a technical or regulatory exercise — it is a dynamic, transdisciplinary process through which research and practice continuously inform one another. Alongside publications and patents, standardisation serves as a powerful yet often overlooked channel for knowledge and technology transfer, providing shared concepts, methods, and reference frameworks that strengthen the quality, reproducibility, and uptake of scientific work.

For researchers working across disciplines, sectors, and national borders, engagement in standardisation offers tangible opportunities: broader collaboration networks, greater visibility for research outputs, and a direct pathway to societal and industrial impact. When research shapes standards — and standards in turn inform research — a virtuous cycle emerges that accelerates innovation and reinforces the relevance of science beyond the academic community.

Led by RMIT Europe’s REDI Program, the Bridging Science and Business Working Group (BSB WG) is pleased to co-organise the PhD Career Day Hybrid Event, with the MCAA Spain–Portugal Chapter, and ACCIÓ.

This free one-day event is designed for recent PhD graduates and current PhD candidates who are looking to explore career opportunities, gain insights into professional paths inside and outside academia, and connect with a vibrant international community. Attendees will grasp the ideas and success stories from former PhDs who discovered that there is another life outside the academia. You will hear career stories from PhD alumni, Start-ups, entrepreneurs, project managers and discover support programs, and build networks that can help shape their next steps.

In case of high demand, priority will be given to MSCA fellows in their third year, who are especially encouraged to attend.

“Researchers Meet Entrepreneurs: Career Paths”, Thursday 6 & Friday 7 November

It is our great pleasure to invite you to “Researchers Meet Entrepreneurs: Career Paths”, an event jointly organised by the MCAA France Chapter, the MCAA Bridging Science and Business Working Group (BSB WG), and the AUFRANDE Program teams.

This event aims to further strengthen the bridge between academia and industry by fostering dialogue, networking, and collaboration among researchers, entrepreneurs, and professionals.
Intended for current and former Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) fellows, this event will explore diverse career paths for PhD holders and early-career postdoctoral researchers. It will offer valuable insights into transitioning from academia to industry, with a particular focus on start-up creation, mental health, and wellbeing. The programme will feature speakers and stakeholders from various sectors and provide ample opportunities for open discussion and networking.

Registration is required for all participants (except AUFRANDE fellows). The deadline to register is 30 October.

The main objective of this event is to bring together experts from academia, the industry and policymakers to foster in-depth discussions leading to the definition of precautionary measures. We want to create a cooperative structure that proactively addresses the potential destruction brought on by earthquakes by utilizing the pooled expertise and assets of these three different sectors.The event aims at initiating discussions on how policymakers can regulate the implementation of sustainable techniques in both short and long-term earthquake preparedness plans as well as the business perspective of adapting them.
