About the speaker:

Daniel Rohr studied chemistry at the Humboldt University in Berlin and in Marburg and earned his Diploma in quantum chemistry. For his PhD he moved to Amsterdam further diverting from chemistry and digging deeper into physics and programming. To further his career he studied maths parallel to his PhD. With post-doc grants from the DFG, the German National Academy of Sciences and from the Marie Curie Actions he worked at the MPI in Halle and the FHI in Berlin as well as Rice University in Houston, USA and in Poland and Spain.

Inspired by American entrepreneurship he left science in 2014 and entered the startup world. Among many other positions he co-founded two startups. Starting in 2019 his interest started shifting towards artificial intelligence and data science, allowing him to combine his expertise in data, science and communication.

He attended a bootcamp on data science where he developed an autonomous car called Emily that picks up trash from Berlin's side walks. You can follow the project online at emilypicksup.wordpress.com. The project even drew attention from Berlin's cleaning company BSR.
