Financial Officer (Freelance)

 

Job description:

 

The position will be responsible for supporting all financial activities in MCAA, including but not limited to:

  • Ensure weekly payment runs
  • Prepare financial statements for the projects and relevant authorities in Belgium
  • Maintain financial transaction records by establishing accounts, posting transactions, and ensuring legal compliance
  • Manage bank and financial accounts
  • Check and process submitted invoices, reimbursement requests etc.
  • Prepare financial statements, such as ledgers, income statements, and balance sheets.
  • Prepare budget and financial planning in coordination with the Board and the Secretariat
  • Prepare monthly financial reports
  • Prepare reports and coordinate with tax and VAT authorities
  • Liaise and coordinate with external accounting and tax advisor
  • Coordinate and support external audit processes, such as CFS



 

What we expect:

  •     Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field
  •     Proven experience as a Financial Officer or similar role
  •     Familiarity with financial management software and systems (Quickbooks, Monday.com etc.)
  •     Excellent understanding of financial regulations in Belgium for the AISBL and reporting standards of the Horizon Europe/H2020 projects
  •     Excellent oral and written communication skills in English 
  •     Excellent oral and written communication skills in French (at least B1 level)
  •     Good teamwork abilities, particularly in a multicultural and multi-disciplinary context
  •     Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with discretion
  •     The position is based in Belgium



 

Will be considered as advantages: 

  • Experience in managing financial activities of an international nonprofit (AISBL) based in Belgium
  • 2+ years experience in a similar role 
  • B1 level in English
  • B1 level in French

 

What we offer:

  • MCAA service contract as a freelancer until the end of December 2024, renewable depending on the performance 
  • Compensation is based on the candidate's relevant experience, with a daily gross rate ranging from 140 Euro to 160 Euro (Officer position). 
  • The position is expected to be 12 to 18 hours/week
