CoARA Working Group presents main outputs on multilingualism in research assessment in upcoming webinar

The Coalition for Advancing Research Assessment (CoARA) Working Group on Multilingualism and Language Biases in Research Assessment will host a final webinar on 21 October 2025 to present its key findings and recommendations for adopting multilingual research assessment practices.
Multilingualism and Language Biases in Research Assessment is one of the 13 thematic Working Groups established by members of CoARA, a global coalition committed to reforming the methods and processes by which research, researchers, and research organisations are evaluated.
The Working Group aims to foster an academic culture that values diverse competencies, interactions, and communications in all languages without exclusions or priorities. Its main outputs will be presented during the webinar, scheduled for 21 October 2025 from 15:30 to 16:30 CET.
The webinar will be divided into two parts:
- Presentation of the Multilingualism Landscape Report, mapping existing practices, policies, and challenges related to multilingualism and language biases in research assessment.
- Introduction of the Implementation Proposal on Language-Aware Assessments, outlining practical steps to support the CoARA commitments by recognising and rewarding multilingualism in research and academic communication and addressing language biases in assessments.
Participants will gain insights into how language shapes recognition and evaluation of research across contexts and explore the next steps for embedding multilingualism in research assessment practices.
CoARA members, higher education institutions, research performing and research funding organisations, and all interested stakeholders are invited to attend the webinar and contribute to creating a more inclusive, impactful, and sustainable research ecosystem.
