The Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) is pleased to present its Annual Report 2025, which provides an overview of a landmark year for the Association and the Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions (MSCA) community, highlighting activities that have strengthened the research and innovation (R&I) landscape in Europe and beyond.
In 2025, the MCAA, comprising over 24,000 members across more than 155 countries and all scientific disciplines, focused on enhancing the environment in which researchers can develop, collaborate, contribute, and thrive. Through our key pillars of activity—networking, career development, and policy—we not only connected the MSCA community and supported the professional growth of programme fellows and alumni, but also ensured that their voices are heard where decisions are made.
The report describes how we fostered connections within and beyond the research community by organising events, including the MCAA Annual Conference and the first MCAA Policy Forum, launching new initiatives such as the MCAA Academy pilot Mentoring Programme, and providing opportunities for exchange and collaboration through over 140 Chapter and Working Group activities. It also gives insight into the numerous opportunities we offered to our members at all stages to enhance their skills and advance their careers, including microgrants and the MCAA Learning Programme.
Moreover, the Annual Report sheds light on our engagement in high-level policy discussions, advocacy for researchers’ interests, and commitment to promoting Open Science, reforming research assessment, advancing science diplomacy, and securing sustainable research careers.
In the foreword, the MCAA Chair 2024–2026, Gian Maria Greco, highlights the need to continue building on the foundations strengthened in 2025. “In the year ahead, our task is to build on them with care—so that researchers can not only connect but contribute; not only move but belong; and not only pursue excellence but help create the conditions in which knowledge and society can flourish together.”

The MCAA supports and contributes to advancing knowledge for a global, diverse, and informed society. Its primary focus is to support its members’ career development, offer networking opportunities, and contribute to shaping research and innovation policies in the EU. Currently, the MCAA has over 25,000 members from 160+ countries, at all career stages and from diverse research fields.
