MCAA, Eurodoc, ICoRSA and YAE organise two side events at the World Science Forum 2024

The events, held on November 19th and 20th, 2024, will explore how researchers can effectively engage in science diplomacy and how to make careers in academia more attractive and sustainable.
In line with this year’s World Science Forum theme, “The science and policy interface at the time of global transformations,” the side events by the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA), the European Council of Doctoral Candidates and Junior Researchers (Eurodoc), the International Consortium of Research Staff Associations (ICoRSA), and the Young Academy of Europe (YAE) handle thematics relevant to researchers and their careers in a world that is more interconnected but also more complex than ever before.
The first side event is a panel discussion titled “Engaging Researchers and Researcher Associations in Science Advice, Diplomacy and Science for Peace”, held on November 19th from 14:00 to 15:30 (CET) in the Reading Room of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences. The panel will explore ways researchers and researcher associations can effectively engage in science diplomacy and science for peace at national and international levels. The speakers include Stella Reschke from the DLR Project Management Agency and the EU Science Diplomacy Alliance, Hannah Schoch from Eurodoc, Scott Bremer from YAE, Irene Castellano Pellicena from the MCAA, and Rosarii Griffin from ICoRSA. The session will be moderated by Mostafa Moonir Shawrav from the MCAA.
The second event, “How to make academic careers attractive and sustainable,” focuses on improving the sustainability and attractiveness of academic careers. It will take place on November 20th from 14:00 to 15:30 (CET) in the Ceremonial Hall of the Vigadó Concert Hall (Pesti Vigadó). The panellists are Slaven Misljencevic from the Directorate-General for Research and Innovation of the European Commission, Carl Vannetelbosch from UNESCO, Nicola Dengo from Eurodoc, Katalin Solymosi from YAE, and Gian Maria Greco from the MCAA. The event moderator is Rosarii Griffin from ICoRSA.
