1st SHORT POETRY CONTEST MCAA Spain-Portugal Chapter "LOVE TO SCIENCE".

Do you want to express your "Love for Science" through a short poem? Here comes your chance! The Spain-Portugal Chapter of the Marie Curie Alumni Association (MCAA) opens the first edition to all those individuals residing in Spain or Portugal who wish to express their personal vision on the theme "Love to Science" through short poems.

What sort of poem can I write?

Your poem should be a maximum of 40 lines length and can be in any poetry style you like and doesn’t have to rhyme. How about trying one of these poem types:

  • limerick
  • haiku
  • acrostic poem
  • rap
  • sonnet (e.g. ABBA ABBA CDC DCD)

Your poem could have something to do with science and great ideas or discoveries, a scientific issue that is important to you, your lab… Get your imagination fired up and create your own poem! There is no fee for entering the contest. The prize for the winning poem will be a poetry/science book. In addition, a pair of cool Boodlife sunglasses will be raffled among all participants. The contest closes April 30th, 2022. Poems may be submitted by email at spain-portugal.chapter@mariecuriealumni.eu (Subject: LOVE TO SCIENCE). Even if not mandatory, a recorded audio of the poems would be more than welcome.

An example: Amazing Gravity (Shravya Gupta):

Gravity, Gravity I feel so amazed,

Our walks, Our jumps, you help us all take,

Gravity, Gravity I feel so amazed!

Sometimes I wonder if no Gravity is around,

How will we walk and what will be on ground,

All will fly and all will be hazed,

Gravity, Gravity I feel so amazed!

Watching an apple fall gave birth to you,

Newton is the scientist who discovered you,

I am so surprised and a little dazed,

Gravity, Gravity I feel so amazed!

Ejemplo (Sergi CH @supersalto1)):

Le pedí a un algoritmo

que redactara un poema

no puse plazo ni tema

y le dejé elegir ritmo.

Inteligencia artificial

en busca de poesía

procelosa travesía

si no suena natural.

Empieza con un te quiero

acaba con un te extraño

¿os parece o no sincero?
