2 min read Sep 25, 2018
I encourage the members of the MCAA German Chapter to contribute to the work of the chapter by becoming a candidate for the position of Chapter Chair. Please apply for this post by sending an email stating your candidature to german.chapter@mariecuriealumni.eu before Tuesday 16th October 2018 at 11:00 (CET). If there is more than one candidate at that time, there will be an online election that will be limited to the members of the chapter at that time. MCAA members with a connection to Germany can join the MCAA German Chapter at https://www.mariecuriealumni.eu/groups/german-chapter

Hi Pinar,

MCAA’s Chapters are quite diverse in their activities but there are some basic requirements of the Chapter Chair:

  1. to be responsible for the administration related to the chapter: submitting annual report, annual plan and reimbursement requests
  2. to set the direction and drive activities of the chapter
  3. to liaise with the chapter members
  4. to build a team to help run the chapter
  5. to represent the interests of the chapter members in Germany by building networks to relevant partners: MSCA NCP, EURAXESS Germany, DAAD, DFG, Humboldt Foundation and many others
  6. to serve as an ex-officio (non-voting) member of the Board of MCAA

As in any election to any post, there is no particular perfect past experience required. The main thing is to convince the chapter members that you are the best person to represent their interests and are a good representative for Marie Curie Alumni in Germany. Knowing how to speak German could help with regard to some activities but is not completely necessary. The Chair can build a team that includes other people, who fulfill roles that fill in any such gaps.

Warm regards,

Brian
