Candidacy for vice-chair
Dear Members,
As a current board member I´d like to share a few words with you regarding my candidacy for vice-chair.
The last 2 years have been rich and intense in terms of worldwide events: COVID, war, climate change impact. Everyone has had to adapt and face new situations. The 11 MCAA board members elected in 2020 got to test new ways of working and interacting, assessed new tools and developed new ideas to make the association even more efficient even though we were all experiencing difficulties. We only got to meet once (and not everyone) but still managed to create a real-work environment and developed the first steps towards a long-term MCAA vision and mission.
I am now applying as a vice-chair as I believe that I can carry on the work started in 2020, and can help transitioning from the current board to the new one alongside our new chair. Besides the fact that MCAA will soon become a financially independent association, and that we will have to manage this new status, MCAA will also have to continue representing its members (20K and counting) and promote networking. As a distinguished researcher of the University of Cordoba, Spain I want to highlight the importance of the role of investigation and make sure that MCAA represents science in general but also research scientist and women in science in particular. Furthermore, one of my great interest is also to work on the renewable energy transition. Through my investigation I try to develop new sustainable energy solutions (H2) using algae as eco-friendly alternatives. Thus, sustainability, ecologic transition, “green affairs”, etc.. are very important for me and MCAA is the perfect platform to develop activities and a network of workers involved in these themes. MCAA can be our voice and have an impact on future research, future project and future policy.
I wish you all the best and will see you at the GA the 26/27th of March.
