Candidates’ manifestos

  • Hui Gu

I am Hui Gu, currently a professor and PhD supervisor at the School of Chemistry and Chemical Engineering in Hunan University of Science and Technology. I am an EU Marie Curie Scholar and currently serve as the Director of the MCAA China Secretariat. Under the leadership of the association's president, we, the China Chapter, have achieved rapid development over the past two years, during which I have been one of the managers. We have organized nearly 20 various scientific exchange activities which had garnered over 1 million views. For more details about our activities, please refer to the following link: https://drive.google.com/file/d/1iFBQipfp7smIkrf28mWksVIq2Spgv7op/view?usp=sharing.

Additionally, we have encouraged and helped more Chinese scholars to apply for MSCA projects through organizing sharing sessions and experience exchange meetings. Currently, our chapter has gathered over 600 Chinese Marie Curie Scholars and established two online groups (WeChat) to share and exchange various information. This year, our chapter was awarded the "Best Non-European Chapter" by the MCAA, one of the highest accolades for chapter work.

I am applying for the Chair of the chapter because I am personally happy to serve the chapter and use my strengths to further enhance the chapter's positive role from the following aspects. On one hand, I would like to regularly continue the above activities, including annual meetings and sharing sessions, to continuously attract more Chinese to apply for the Marie Curie Scholars Program and join the organization, contributing positively to the chapter. On the other hand, I plan to further strengthen the cooperation between the chapter and well-known Chinese universities, making our association a bridge for talent exchange and communication between the EU and China. Additionally, I will spare no effort to leverage the power of the EU MCAA to promote deep cooperation between the EU and China in various fields in academia and industry.

  • Zhengtao Ai

I am Zhengtao Ai, currently a full Professor at Hunan University, China. I am a recipient of the National Youth Talent Program, and an EU Marie Curie Fellow and serve as the Chair of MCAA China. Under my leadership, our Chapter has achieved rapid development over the past two years, as evidenced by the following:

1) Organized over 20 influential events, which have collectively garnered over 1 million views, as follows:

2) Organized numerous sharing activities. The number of Chinese scholars awarded the MSCA Fellowship in 2023 and 2024 has significantly increased.

3) Gathered over 600 Chinese Marie Curie scholars across two WeChat groups. We are compiling academic exchange archives for our alumni.

4) Our Chapter was honored with the "Best Non-European Chapter" award by MCAA, one of the highest accolades for Chapter work.

We are currently promoting several important activities, e.g., academic exchange forums jointly hosted with prestigious Chinese universities and the 2nd annual conference. If I am fortunate enough to be elected Chair, I look forward to achieving greater development of our Chapter under support of MCAA:

1) Further strengthening collaboration between the Chapter and prestigious Chinese universities, allowing more Marie Curie scholars to find desirable jobs or platforms.

2) Enhancing communication across various fields, establishing WeChat groups categorized by professional fields.

3)Inviting renowned Marie Curie scholars to share their successful project application and career experiences, and forming a series of such events.

4) Promoting more collaborations between our Chapter and other renowned academic organizations, further enhancing the recognition and influence of MSCA programme in China.

5) Establishing connections and interactions with more EU institutions, further promoting in-depth cooperation between Europe and China in the academic and industrial fields.
